Mountain Goat are very plentiful. Horn lengths run 8-11" with record class goats available. The area has produced goats of up to 53 B&C; the average is around 9 ¼”.
While it is legal to harvest Nanny goats, we encourage our hunters to take Billys only. We hunt goats from August 1st through early October. Hunt early for the best weather and biggest goats and later for longer hair. Most hunts require backpacking. While the Cassiar Mountains typically don’t have goats as large as the Coast range, the hunting conditions are much more pleasant (less rain, less bush and no Devil’s Club) and there are usually other species that can be hunted in the area.
