Mountain Caribou are hunted from mid August until mid-October. The big bulls are scattered and spend most of their time in the Alpine country were you would expect to find sheep. The caribou rut starts in mid-Sept and goes through the end of the season. Don't expect to see large herds of caribou, but the genetics in this area are world class. In fact, one of the top 10 Mountain Caribou of all time came from this area. Its official score was 444 B&C. The area has produced many 400 + B&C caribou with quite a few scoring in the 415-436 ranges. Mountain caribou are much bigger in body size than the other varieties of caribou and while this hunt is much more expensive than a typical caribou hunt, the average size and the quality of the hunt is much better.
