Canada Moose are hunted in between mid-August and mid-October near lakes and rivers using boats or in mountain valleys by horseback. The river boat hunts are relatively easy and hunters can stay in a lodge. Other hunts are conducted out of wall tents or remote cabins. Due to the rut, mid-September thru mid-October is the most popular time to hunt moose because hunters can call them in, but the earlier hunts are successful, using spot and stalk hunting methods, similar to hunting sub alpine alpine mule deer. Our moose average in the low to mid 50" range and the widest taken was 64 ½”. The largest scoring moose taken was 212 Net B&C, but bulls up to 220 have been seen. We hunt our moose lightly to maintain a high percentage of quality animals. Moose are the most plentiful trophy animal in the area.
